Growing up in a small town in South Georgia during the 40s, 50s and 60s may not sound very exciting to many people. Most of us who had this experience during the early part of our lives think of those times with fond memories or in some cases memories of things and people that we keep mostly to ourselves. But above all we remember the families and the friendships that grew in a time when we were all in much less of a rush to get somewhere.

Just before Christmas in 2005 I somehow got entangled with a group of six or seven people who once lived in Ellaville and Schley County and were exchanging email on a regular basis. On January 7, 2006 after everyone had finished the last of the fruit cake, Ernie Jones set-up the Ellaville Memories Group on Yahoo. As of February 2, 2006 there are 63 members of the group. The button to the right will take you to those pages where you can sign up and join if you so wish.

You might be surprised at who you meet up with in the group. It could be someone you haven't heard from in a long time and oh yeah, some of them can tell you about growing up in the 30s. Come join us, teeth in and shoes on, optional but most likely glasses are required.
